Family doctors will receive medical kits to care patients with chronic diseases and Ukraine`s refugees

220 Health Centres with the affiliated Family Doctors’ Offices from 35 districts of the Republic of Moldova will be provided with 853 family doctors’ (physician) kits containing small medical equipment/medical devices and supplies for managing patients with non-communicable diseases and refugees from Ukraine.

The donation will be made by the Healthy Life: Reducing the Burden of Noncommunicable Diseases Project on the occasion of the World Family Doctor Day 2022. It will be distributed by the project between 16 May and 30 June 2022 to the family doctor teams from 35 districts of the country implementing the package of the essential interventions in non-communicable diseases (PEN). This activity is supported by the Ministry of Health through the Healthy Life: Reducing the Burden of Noncommunicable Diseases Project financed by the Swiss Government and implemented by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute.

The family doctor's kit is equipped (consists of) with the high-precision mechanical tonometer for measuring blood pressure and stethophonendoscope for listening to the heartbeat and lungs, non-contact electrical thermometer, tourniquet, centimetre tape, medical scissors, spatula sets, syringes, cotton wool, gauze, sterile dressing, bactericidal plaster. Also, batch of protective materials consisting of 118,300 medical masks and 3,466 litters of disinfectants will be donated for completing the stocks of these primary health care institutions from the country and for managing refugee patients in the field.,.

At the same time, during 13-26 June, the ToT on Implementation of the package of essential interventions in non-communicable diseases (PEN) in the Republic of Moldova is planned to be organized for 34 local trainers (family doctors, nurses of the FD, PHC managers). They will continue thus the cascade training at the workplace of colleagues from the primary health care institutions to be held in the 8 pilot districts for the implementation of this year's project ².
